So it's about time that I share my engagement story. Robert and I knew in January that we were going to get married, but by brother Mike and his then fiance Adrianne were getting married in February. We did not want to take any of their spotlight so we did not tell anyone until after their wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and Mike and Adrianne were both so happy. My grandmother died the week before the wedding so we had a wedding and a funeral. We finally went ring shopping the week after the wedding. We were told it would not be ready for another week, so Robert was surprised when he had a call a few days later saying the ring was ready. He went and picked-up the ring.
That night he tried to recreate all of our significant dates but I wouldn't let him. We both had a HUGE paper due that week so we were working on it. He tried to get me to take a break so he could recreate the dates but I got annoyed and told him we had to work on our papers (he's the one that makes sure I take a break and have some fun). I was stubborn so he talked about our dates and recreated the significant dates we had had at my apartment. He ended with asking me if I remembered when he first asked me to marry him. I was sick and he was taking care of me when he had first proposed. I said "not right now" (he knew what I meant: Mike's wedding, school, and not dating very long so we would not tell anyone until after Mike's wedding). This time he slipped the ring on my finger when he asked me. I was totally shocked and speechless (yes I was speechless I know that rarely happens!) I was soooo happy and so was he.
We are getting married July 25! We wish it could be sooner but we both have legal externships this summer starting in May and ending late June. Mine is in Irvine, his is in Washington DC. We will have a few weeks after the externships are finished to complete the wedding details and then get ready to start our marriage.

Natalie - That's a great date. It's our anniversary too!..and apparently the Olson's too (I just read her comment). Congratulations on everything. I admire you for continuing your education at Law School. Education is priceless. My husband and I have two little girls. I wish we could get together with you. Maybe next time you're down visiting your parents..
